 NFSL 1-Year Elite Baseball Rules
A. Prizes and Fees
1. League champion receives a plaque and $2,500 Cash.
2. League runnerup receives $500 Cash.
3. League third place receives $200 Cash.
4. League fourth place receives $100 Cash.
5. The league high scorer each week for weeks 1-20 receives a FREE ENTRY in the following week's Weekly Game, with $175 in prizes every week.
6. The 'final 4' teams in league playoffs each receive a free entry in our PostSeason Tournament with $2500 in prizes.
7. League cost is $350.
B. League Structure
1. The Elite League consists of 16 teams in 2 divisions of 8 teams.
2. Standings are based on win-loss percentage of head-to-head games, with total points as a tiebreaker. Winners of tie games are determined by home field advantage of a half-point.
3. The regular season consists of 20 weeks. A league SCHEDULE will be published at the start of each season. Each team plays every team in their division 2 times, and every team in the other division 1 time. There are two double-header weeks.
4. The playoffs are held in the final 5 weeks of the MLB regular season. Please see the 'Playoffs' paragraph for more detail.
C. Team Rosters
1. Roster limit is 26, including managers.
2. The roster limit will not be allowed to be exceeded.
3. There is no limit or minimum number of players at any position on the roster.
D. Weekly Lineups
1. A new lineup may be assigned every week. If no lineup changes are reported, the previous week's lineup will be used.
2. A player may be placed in only one lineup position.
3. Lineup positions are:

4. Alternates only get credit for half of the pooints they score.
5. Alternate batters' score counts if one of their starters has LESS than 5 PLATE APPEARANCES for the week.
6. Alternate pitchers' sscore counts if one of the 6 lineup pitchers has LESS than 1.0 Innings Pitched.
E. Scoring
1. Each match consists of all MLB games played in one week (Monday thru Sunday). Points are accumulated by players in the starting lineup. Point values are:

2. The lowest possible score for any player in one week is zero.
F. Weekly Series
1. For every weekly matchup, there is a 7-game series between the opponents. Results for the higher-scoring team are:
Win by 100 - go 7-0
Win by 60   - go 6-1
Win by 30   - go 5-2
Win by 1     - go 4-3
G. Disabled List
1. In addition to the 26-man roster, up to 2 players may be held on DL.
2. Any player may be placed on DL (you can 'manufacture' injuries just as the pros do).
3. Any player put on DL may not be activated for at least 2 weeks.
4. Each team may activate a maximum of 6 players off DL during the season. Players that are waived or traded off DL do not count toward the 6 moves.
H. Transactions
1. Trades may be made with other teams in the same league. Multiple-player and multiple-team trades are allowed.
2. Each week, a 5-round free agent draft is held. Owners may request up to 5 lists of of preferred free agents (one signing per list). Free agents are awarded in the reverse order of the standings.
3. Free agent selections for current and future weeks may be traded for players and/or other free agent picks.
4. No more than 5 new players may be added to a roster in any one week by trades and/or free agent signings. A player that is acquired then traded/waived in the same week will NOT count toward the 5.
5. When a player is traded from a team, he can not be placed back on that team's roster for at least 4 weeks.
6. When a player is waived from a team's roster, he can not be signed by a different team until the following week. However, the waiving team may cancel the waiver and 're-sign' him any time before the deadline.
7. No players may be signed as free agents after week 20. No trades are allowed after week 17.
I. One-Year League
1. This league will last for one season. New leagues are formed every year.
J. Playoffs
1. 6 teams qualify for the playoffs. Qualification is in this order:
- 1st place team from each division
- 2nd place team from each division
- remaining team with best won-lost %
- remaining team with most points scored, regardless of record
2. The top two seeds receive a BYE in round one of the playoffs.
3. Tiebreakers for any seed position are:
 1- Won-lost % (for 6th seed)
 2- Most points scored
 3- Most points against
 4- Most points scored by coach/manager
 5- Coin flip
4. In each playoff round, the higher seeded team receives a home field advantage:
- Round 1: 1-week match, 9.5 point HFA
- Round 2: 1-week match, 9.5 point HFA
- Round 3: 3-week match, 9.5 point HFA, alternating every week.
5. In each round, the highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed, etc.
6. In the 3-week playoff round, home field advantage alternates each week, and the winner is determined by the team that receives the highest score in 2 out of the 3 weeks.
7. In the final round, there will also be a match between the two teams that were eliminated in the semifinals. The result of this match determines the 3rd/4th place teams.
K. Position Eligibility
1. All player positions are based on game appearances. Players will start the season at the position where they had the most ML appearances the previous year. However, a player must have at least 7 appearances for his position to change.
2. Each BATTER is eligible all season at the position where he is listed at the start of the season.
3. BATTERS are also eligible at any position where they had at least 20 games the previous year.
4. Once a BATTER has 7 games at a new position in the current season, he is eligible at that position for the remainder of the season.
5. BATTERS do not lose eligibility at any position during the season.
6. Any PITCHERS may be used at either the SP or RP lineup spots. However, anyone played at SP will not get credit for Saves or Holds. Anyone played at RP will not get credit for Complete Games, Quality Starts, etc., and will lose 10 points for each start.
L. Deadlines
1. The weekly transaction deadline is 3:00 PM Eastern time on Fridays. DL moves may be made after the deadline, all the way until the lineup deadline.
2. The weekly lineup deadline is 12:00 noon Eastern time on Mondays.
3. No trades are allowed after week 17.
4. No free agents are awarded after week 20.
M. Commissioner
1. The NFSL Commissioner has authority to take any action(s) he deems necessary to maintain harmony and fair play in the league.
